The Joy of Arriving

The Saints

Written July 9, 2015

I’ve come to the conclusion that my favourite part of sailing is the moment just after the anchor is set. This is the moment I breathe a sigh of relief; we made it; we’re here.

This is the case after every passage, even short 10 nm ones. Is this reason for concern?

The short hop from Guadeloupe to The Saints only took two hours. It was into the wind and raining for maybe half of it, but the conditions  were fine; we wanted calm and we got it.

Still, I seem to feel this sense of relief when we pull into an anchorage and I know the passage is over.
