July 22, Marigot, St. Lucia
We moved down the coast yesterday, past Castries, the capitol of St. Lucia, to Marigot Bay, the location of a high-end hotel/marina in a natural hurricane hole. We are anchored just outside — to avoid the $30 (U.S.) morning ball fee.
The marina itself struck me as a bit ridiculous: expensive fashion & souvenir shops, a beautiful bakery and restaurants, but not a chandlery nor hardware store in sight, nor a laundromat.
Not really our scene. Everyone is very friendly, hoping we will drop some coin. But unfortunately, we won’t be doing that; we are the type of sailors who wash their clothes by hand on deck in order to last until the next laundromat.
