Moss is Sad

August 8, Grenada Marine, St. David’s Bay, Grenada

It’s a sad day. We have hauled Cedar out of the water, and are now on the hard at Grenada Marine. Yes, we found it. The boatyard is furthest southeastern marina on the island; if we went any further we’d be in Trinidad.

Lots of our friends boats are here too. I guess they’re cheap like us. This is the most affordable marina on the island.

Moss is sad because the slow process of mothballing Cedar has begun. And what awaits us back in Canada in two days’ time is something he is dreading: reality. Or perhaps I should say another reality to the one he has been loving so much down here.

Cedar has been our home for the past six months, and has allowed us to realize a dream that has been 10 years in the making.
But there is some good news. No, some great news.

We’ve decided to do all this craziness one more time.

Next season, we’ll start down south here in Grenada, and head north up through the islands we’ve seen (but see them properly, maybe stay longer in some and skip others). We’ll go all the way up to the Bahamas and leave the boat in Florida for either repairs and upgrades or for selling.

Of course we’ll have to figure out a way to keep the sanity with two full-fledged teenagers aboard.
